01

Create one row per firm

Record the firm, lawyer, jurisdiction, source, consultation date, and whether a conflicts check is complete. Do not score a firm before confirming who would handle the work.

02

Compare relevant dimensions

Use columns for relevant matter experience, staffing, communication, expected response time, fee structure, expenses, immediate next step, and unanswered questions. Avoid one overall score that hides an important difference.

03

Verify independent facts

Check the individual lawyer through the official jurisdictional authority. Confirm office and contact details directly. Treat ratings, reviews, and directory placement as leads, not verified measures of likely results.

04

Record the reason for your decision

Write the factors that mattered most and keep the agreement reviewed. A written comparison can reduce the influence of urgency, sales language, or an outcome prediction no lawyer can guarantee.
