Write a neutral one-page summary
Include when and where the event occurred, people or organizations involved, immediate care, current treatment, insurer or report numbers, and any deadline communicated to you. Mark uncertain details instead of guessing.
Prepare a short document index
List what you have rather than sending everything without instructions. Include reports, photographs, provider names, insurer messages, and employment records. Ask how the firm accepts sensitive files.
Choose three important questions
Ask whether the firm handles this type of matter in the relevant jurisdiction, who would review and work on it, and what the next step would be. Add any urgent question about timing, communications, or an unsigned document.
Record the outcome
Note whether the firm will review more material, declined the inquiry, identified a conflict, referred you elsewhere, or offered an agreement. A call does not itself establish representation; ask what must happen next.
