Ask for the incident record and preserve enrollment, activity, permission, supervision, equipment, and communication documents. Identify whether the institution is public or private and who ran the program. A school injury does not automatically establish negligence, and public-school involvement can raise distinct procedural questions.
Work, construction, and industrial settings
Report the event through the appropriate workplace process and keep the report, photographs, witness details, training and task information, medical restrictions, schedule, and wage records. Employment benefits and a potential claim involving another company are different questions that may overlap.
Medical care and products
Preserve provider names, records, instructions, medication and device details, packaging, receipts, serial or lot information, and communications. Do not alter or discard a product that may be relevant. Medical and product matters often require specialized review; ask who evaluates technical issues and how costs are handled.
Hotels, airports, and visitor travel
For a visitor incident, keep reservations, receipts, transport details, property reports, photographs, witness contacts, and the home and event locations. The place of injury, parties, agreement terms, and forum can matter more than where the traveler lives.
